About the League

The Mahjong League™ was designed to empower Mahjong instructors and enthusiasts to establish their own league chapters within their communities, providing a welcoming and organized environment for both new and seasoned players to enjoy the game. Our founder, Dominique Messerschmidt, taught hundreds of students, where she noticed a common challenge: many players struggled to maintain momentum in their Mahjong journey without a regular group, set time, or place to play after taking lessons. To address this, she launched several leagues within her community, introducing an organized, competitive structure featuring a ladder-style scoring system to keep players engaged and help improve their skills. Watching players build confidence and sharpen their skills through regular gameplay has been incredibly rewarding. The success of these local leagues inspired the creation of The Mahjong League™, a national platform that makes it easy and fun for instructors and enthusiasts to open their own league chapters, and for players to join, connect, and find community through the game we love.
