Dominique discovered the marvelous game of Mahjong five years ago, and two years ago, a group of friends asked her to teach them how to play. She enjoyed teaching them so much that she decided to become a certified Mahjong instructor, and thus Mrs. Mahjong was born. Since then, she has taught over 600 students across Georgia and Florida, loving every moment of it. Along the way, she noticed a recurring theme: many students learned the game, but without a regular group, set time, or place to play, their skills quickly faded. This observation inspired her to create several Mahjong leagues in her area, where she has helped students connect and enjoy the game. Now, Dominique is excited to introduce The Mahjong League™, an initiative designed to empower Mahjong instructors and enthusiasts to start their own leagues within their communities, providing a welcoming and organized environment for both new and seasoned players to enjoy the game.
Thanks:
First and foremost, I want to thank Ginny Howard (The Mahjong Lady) for teaching me how to play Mahjong and for introducing my first Mahjong group—Betsy Jones, Dort Cobb, and Dea Mooney—to the game. I am forever grateful for your guidance and wisdom in the game of Mahjong! Ginny and I also had the incredible opportunity to launch the very first league in Thomasville, Thomahjong, which was an absolute blast. A big thank you to Christina Nonni (One Bam Bird) for helping us get the first Florida league, Tally Tile Tribe, off the ground in Tallahassee. Speaking of Tallahassee, none of this would have been possible without Molly Corder, who sparked the Mahjong movement in the capital city—thank you, Molly!
To all my friends who have cheered me on from the very beginning—thank you for your unwavering support! You know who you are, and I am deeply grateful for each of you. A huge thanks to my younger brother, Marco, for fully supporting this idea and helping with all things technical. His expertise in online gaming has finally made Mom proud, and I’ve had so much fun building this alongside you. Speaking of Mom, a special thank you to her for being a constant source of support. She has become a Mahjong enthusiast and brilliant player after learning the game last year, and I’ve loved teaching classes alongside Mrs. MaMahjong. I truly couldn’t have done this without her! And last but certainly not least, thank you to my husband, Mr. Mahjong, for supporting me every step of the way. Not only has he become a phenomenal Mahjong player himself, but he’s also on a major winning streak against me in Siamese Mahjong at the moment. Thank you for believing in me and my vision, and for encouraging me every step of the way.
